PROBLEM:

Mining operation in South America faced significant challenges with local community, organized to antagonize and threaten to block access to site and disrupt operations.

Infiltration of Organized Crime

PROBLEM:

A manufacturing company with over 50% of its worldwide production in Central America faced a problem with organized crime infiltrating the factory floor to sell illicit products, engage in extortion, and otherwise antagonize client employees.

SP SOLUTION:

Southern Pulse developed a community listening program and augmented a pre-existing anonymous complaint call line that assisted the client with using its own employees to sensitize leadership in Human Resources and Security with discovering hotspots, placing HR and security teams in a preventative posture to contain small issues before they grew into a larger, significant problem.

Corrupt Assets Impact Brand

PROBLEM:

An oil and gas company was interested in purchasing a refinery in South America from another, larger oil and gas operator. The client suspected that there were corrupt practices occurring at the refinery that would impact their brand if the asset were purchased.

SP SOLUTION:

Southern Pulse discovered that a series of sweet heart contracts downstream of the refinery had facilitated the creation of a gasoline cartel organized to put white label gas stations out of business in cities close to the refinery. Excess gasoline owned by the cartel was also illegally exported to neighboring countries. Upon reception of the evidence package prepared by Southern Pulse the client was able to make a well-informed decision not to purchase the asset.

Executive Suspected of Stealing

A manufacturing company in South America suspected that one of its executives was stealing from the company by padding supplier invoices. The suspect was allegedly splitting the difference between what was invoiced to the company and paid out to the supplier with a small group of key providers.

SP SOLUTION:
