U.S., Colombia FTA to be implemented soon

On 3 April 2012, Hernando José Gómez, the US-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) czar, announced that the FTA implementation process was 82 percent complete. While he did not provide a specific date, he expressed hope that it would be ready for implementation during the Summit of the Americas. He indicated that the exact implementation date would be up to Presidents Juan Manuel Santos and Barack Obama.
