President Santos meets with Chinese counterpart

On 9 May 2012, President Juan Manuel Santos and his Chinese counterpart, Hu Jintao, signed a series of nine bilateral agreements to boost political and economic relations between the countries, including the foundation of a Free Trade Agreement, plans to build an oil pipeline to Colombia’s coast, and protocols regarding the import of Chinese beef and chicken. President Hu also confirmed that his government will invest US$3 million in the advancement of technological cooperation, and that the two nations will work to strengthen collaboration in the agricultural, mining and cultural sectors.
