President Calderón signs transparency bill
On 9 November 2012 President Felipe Calderón signed a decree promoting changes to the General Law of Government Accountability. This law was recently approved by the Senate and mandates that the federal, state, and municipal governments be transparent in the use of public resources. The reform includes transparency in public spending, requiring the government to post their costs on the Internet, as well as an increase in sanctions against administrations that do not comply.
