Peña Nieto advisor acknowledges progress of Calderón security strategy
On 25 July 2012, former Colombian police chief Óscar Naranjo acknowledged the significant progress made by President Felipe Calderón in the struggle to combat drug trafficking and stated that recent reports regarding Calderón’s security strategy have been
overly pessimistic. Naranjo will serve as President-elect Enrique Peña Nieto’s external security advisor, and has noted that a few small revisions will be made to the current strategy.
