New report shows decline in poverty

On 30 May 2012, the National Institute for Statistics and Information (INEI) released its Evolution of Poverty 2007-2011 report, noting that poverty declined 3 percent in 2011, to 27.8 percent. INEI Chief Alejandro Vílchez attributed the decline in poverty to economic growth and increased employment.
