INE reports slight increase in unemployment

On 31 October 2012, the National Statistics Institute (INE) reported that the unemployment rate rose 0.1 percent, to 6.5 percent during the July to September 2012 trimester. However, this represents an overall reduction of 0.9 percentage points in comparison to the same period in 2011. The increase in unemployment was especially influenced by the fishing sector, financial brokerage and other activities of community and social services.
