Government Minister confirms reactivation of control posts

On 4 June 2012, Government Minister Mauricio López Bonilla announced the reactivation of control posts along highways in the country, part of an effort to better respond to criminal activity. Cameras will be installed on the highways to read license plates and to monitor vehicles. The posts were discontinued in 1997 when the National Police was disbanded.
