FTA with Panama enters into force

On 1 May 2012, a free trade agreement between Peru and Panama went into effect, discontinuing tariffs for 57 percent of Peruvian exports to Panama. It is expected that the figure will increase to 95 percent over the next five years. Trade between the two countries reached US$673 million in 2011, with Peruvian exports to Panama accounting for US$333 million.
