FAB to use Israeli-made drones for Confederations Cup

On 18 February 2013, the Air Force (FAB) received two new RQ-450 (Hermes-450) drones purchased from Israeli company Elbit through its Brazilian subsidiary, Aeroeletrônica, for US$24.43 million. The purchased drones, along with two others offered by Elbit in 2010 for testing, will be used to monitor national borders as well as for surveillance during the 2013 Confederations Cup, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.
