Esmeralda refinery resumes operations

On 19 April 2012, the state oil company PETROECUADOR announced that the Esmeralda refinery, the largest in the country, had resumed operations after a weeklong suspension of operations following a power shut off on 12 April 2012. PETROECUADOR is investing US$750 million to increase production efficiency and reduce pollution.
