DIECP Director confirms that police cleansing will continue

On 13 December 2012, Eduardo Villanueva, leader of the Directorate for the Investigation and Evaluation of Career Police (DIECP), announced that the police cleansing process will continue, after the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court had declared the Police Act authorizing the initiative unconstitutional. The ruling led to the dismissal of four of five judges in the Constitutional Chamber. On 14 December 2012, the plenary session of the Supreme Court of Justice was postponed until January 2013, when judges will provide a final ruling on the question of constitutionality.
