Chamber of Deputies endorses commercial Public Registry reform

On 9 April 2012, National Action Party (PAN) and Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) members in the Chamber of Deputies endorsed a reform to create a national model of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce, in order to identify the owners of safe houses, drug labs and other properties tied to organized crime. Both sides agreed that a measure to strengthen asset forfeiture and money laundering laws is to have prudential rules that identify properties used by organized crime groups.
