Central Bank reveals FDI growth
On 24 April 2012, the Central Bank announced that Ecuador received US$568 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2011, showing a marked increase over the US$158 million recorded in 2010. In 2011, Canada became the greatest foreign investor, at US$217
million, followed by US$79 million from China and US$71 million from the U.S. More than half of foreign investments went to the mining industry, with manufacturing, business, and construction also benefiting.
