Army intel links Consejo Patriótico Nacional to FARC
On 7 May 2012, the Army cited intelligence suggesting that the new Colombian leftist movement Consejo Patriótico Nacional is intended to be a new political arm for the FARC, potentially with the goal of competing in the presidential elections. The intelligence
came from data obtained through a FARC computer and a memory stick discovered in the province of Esmeraldas, along the northern border with Colombia, in late March 2012.
