Unemployment in Mexico falls to 3.6 percent in October 2016

The Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reported on 28 November 2016 the unemployment rate in Mexico stood at 3.6 percent among the economically active population in October 2016, slightly lower than the 3.8 percent reported in September 2016 (Forbes México). The October 2016 is the lowest national unemployment rate recorded since the end of 2007, and lower than the 4.4 percent rate posted in October 2015. The state of Guerrero recorded the lowest rate with 1.6 percent followed by Oaxaca with 1.8 percent, and Yucatán with 2.1 percent unemployment (Monitor Económico). The highest unemployment levels in the country were registered in Tabasco with 7.6 percent, followed by the state of Mexico and Sonora with 5.7 and 5.6 percent respectively (Forbes México).
