Mexico tops region in Wolrd Bank 2017 Doing Business rankings

The 2017 World Bank Doing Business report ranked Mexico 47th among the 190 countries on the list, making Mexico the highest ranked in the Latin America and the Caribbean region (Economía Hoy). Although Mexico’s ranking appears to have fallen nine places from 38th in 2016, the World Bank reported a change in methodology and indicated the current ranking should be compared to the 2015 report when Mexico placed 45th. Mexico’s slight drop on the ranking can be attributed to low ratings in a few categories including paying taxes (114), ease of starting a business (93), and obtaining building permits (83) (Expansion).
