Mexican President Peña Nieto meets with cabinet to plan final two years of term

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto met with his cabinet on 21 October 2016 to assess progress and create plans for the final third of his six-year term which began in December 2012 (Terra). During the cabinet meeting officials reviewed progress on the implementation of structural reforms as well as advancement on actions taken toward meeting the administration’s essential goals (Terra). Peña Nieto insisted his government would continue with budgetary discipline to maintain macroeconomic stability in the country (Excelsior) The President instructed his ministers to be more efficient and effective in their use of public resources and to intensify their efforts in reaching the targets of the administration (Terra). Excelsior also reported President Peña Nieto will be in Colombia for a State visit on 27 October before attending the XXV Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in Cartagena.
