Mexican political parties PRD and MC seek alliance

The leaders of PRD and Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) announced a legislative alliance to promote an agenda concerning the fight of corruption, social development and educational issues on 18 October 2016 (La Jornada and 24-Horas). The deal is thought to be the start of the creation of an electoral alliance for the 2017 and 2018 elections. (La Jornada). BC leader Dante Delgado acknowledged the alliance was the primary step to forming a new political block, but suggested the interests of citizens must be kept in mind (La Jornada). PRD National President Alejandra Barrales Magdaleno used the word ‘reconstruction’ to describe the relationship with MC (24-Horas).
