Prosecutors open case against former staff member of embattled Veracruz governor

The Attorney General’s Office announced on 14 October 2016 it opened an investigation into the former General Director of Property Registration and Evaluation of Veracruz, Domingo Yoro Saqui, for crimes of abuse of authority (El Universal). Saqui is a former employee of embattled Veracruz Governor Javier Duarte. Saqui is suspected of leaking information about 35 businesses and 69 individuals linked to the diversion of public resources during Duarte's administration. The Attorney General’s Office has connected Saqui’s alleged crimes to four other investigations, which included interviews with multiple government officials regarding the ghost businesses allegedly connected to Duarte (Milenio).
